October 4, 2016 – Tina M. Vernon, Nevada County Treasurer and Tax Collector, hereby announces that regular secured tax bills will be mailed on or before October 7, 2016 to all property owners, at the addresses shown on the tax roll. If you own property in Nevada County and do not receive a tax bill by November 1, contact the tax collector’s office at 950 Maidu Avenue or call 530 265-1285. Bills may also be viewed or printed from the website at www.MyNevadaCounty.com/nc/ttc. Failure to receive a tax bill does not relieve the taxpayer of the responsibility to make timely payments.
The FIRST INSTALLMENT of the 2016-17 taxes are due and payable on November 1, 2016 and will become delinquent if not postmarked or paid by 5p.m. December 10, 2016; thereafter a 10% penalty will be added plus the cost to prepare the delinquent tax records and to give notice of delinquency.
The SECOND INSTALLMENT is due on February 1, 2017 and will become delinquent if not postmarked or paid by 5 p.m. on April 10, 2017; thereafter a 10% penalty will be added plus the cost to prepare the delinquent tax records and to give notice of delinquency. If December 10 or April 10 falls on a Saturday, Sunday or legal holiday no penalty will be charged if payment is received by 5:00 p.m. on the next business day.
BOTH INSTALLMENTS MAY BE PAID when the first installment is due.
Payments may be made by mail sent to P.O. Box 128, Nevada City, CA 95959-0128. Mailed payments must be POSTMARKED BY THE DELINQUENT DATE to avoid late penalties. Payments may also be made in person at the Nevada County Tax Collector’s Office, 950 Maidu Avenue in Nevada City between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, holidays excepted. A 24-7 drive-up tax payment drop box is also available at this location for your convenience.
For Truckee residents, payments may also be made in person at the Truckee Sheriff Substation, Supervisor Richard Anderson’s office located at 10879 Donner Pass Road, Suite A, Truckee, between the hours of 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., November 30 through December 2, 2016.
