January 27, 2020 – The Nevada County Point In Time (PIT) homeless count will take place on Wednesday, January 29th. The annual count is coordinated by the Nevada County Regional Continuum of Care, The Homeless Resource Council of the Sierras, and the County’s Health and Human Services Agency. This year’s PIT count will focus on collecting a detailed “sheltered” count, whereas odd-numbered years focus on both sheltered and unsheltered individuals and families.
The County along with partner jurisdictions and nonprofit agencies, will open additional shelter operations in Nevada City, Truckee, and North San Juan. The Salvation Army on Alta street will be open to families. The Shelters will all be open Tuesday the 28th and Wednesday the 29th. The Homeless Outreach and Medical Engagement (HOME) team and CalWORKS Housing Support Program Staff will assist the shelter operation staff in conducting the count.
