Nevada City, Calif. โ Nevada County is beginning a community conversation about the future of its services in East County, asking community members what is working, what may be missing and what the community will need in the years ahead.

All Nevada County services are available in East County, from public safety and emergency preparedness to roads, health and human services, housing, libraries and more. East County has physical office locations for the Sheriffโs Office, library, child support services, social services, behavioral health, public health, probation, district attorney and the public defender.
District 5 Supervisor Hardy Bullock, who represents the area, emphasized that the East County Visioning Process is an effort to better understand what the community wants and is not intended to move any particular project forward. The goal is also to consider how Nevada County can better integrate its services with those offered by other partners, like Town of Truckee and Placer County.
There are two initial opportunities for the public to give input:
- Survey: Available at nevadacountyca.gov/eastcounty. The survey is available in English and Spanish.
- Community Meeting: Oct. 22, 5 p.m. in the Donner Room, Joseph Center, 10075 Levon Ave., Truckee. Community members will have an opportunity to learn more about the process and share their perspectives directly with County staff.
โEast County has changed and grown over the years, and the services our community needs have evolved along with it,โ said Bullock. โThis is a good time to take a fresh look at those needs, listen to the community and make sure the County is planning for the future based on what we hear.โ

Nevada County has maintained a government presence in Truckee for decades, with facilities near Levon Avenue and Donner Pass Road. Bullock encouraged residents to participate even if they do not regularly use County services or have a specific proposal in mind. The County is also seeking input from the Town of Truckee and other local organizations.
โAnybody far and wide who has an opinion of what may need to occur in East County, please bring it forward,โ Bullock said.
