GRASS VALLEY, Calif. March 15, 2017 – At a special board meeting on March 14, 2017 the Nevada County Board of Education unanimously voted to appoint Scott Lay to serve the remainder of the term currently held by County Superintendent Holly Hermansen who retires July 31, 2017.

Mr. Lay was interviewed in a public session along with two other candidates, and will run for election for a four-year term in June 2018.

Scott Lay brings exceptional skills and experience to the position, having previously served as Superintendent/Principal at Clear Creek School for 17 years.

Nevada County Board of Education President Larry Meek stated, “It was an extremely difficult decision because we had three very well qualified candidates.  I know that Scott Lay will serve Nevada County very well as our next Superintendent of Schools”.
