Grass Valley, Calif. — Nevada County residents are invited to tune up their recycling habits and save a little money at the upcoming Oil Filter Exchange event.

Nevada County Public Works Oil Filter Exchange Event tent with banner: bring in a used oil filter, get a $15 voucher toward a new filter

Bring in a used oil filter and receive a $15 voucher toward the purchase of a new one during same visit. Each household may recycle up to two used filters.

To support at‑home vehicle maintenance, a limited number of free oil change kits – including a funnel, oil pan, and jug – will be available. Limit one kit per household.

Residents are also encouraged to bring used household batteries for safe recycling at Nevada

County’s booth. At the last event, the community filled an entire collection box — let’s do it again! Accepted batteries include A, AA, AAA, C, D, and button‑cell types.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at O’Reilly Auto Parts, 742 Freeman Lane in Grass Valley, next to Raley’s.

This event is for Nevada County residents only. Commercial customers and out‑of‑county participants are not eligible.

For those unable to attend, visit the Solid Waste website for future event dates as they are announced.

This program is made possible through CalRecycle’s Oil Payment Program Grant and Household Hazardous Waste Grant which helps communities expand used‑oil recycling and protect local environments.
