Nevada County Transit is pleased to announce free fares for Youth ages 6-17, effective Nov. 1. Yup, that’s right – no fees, no passes or identification are necessary. Hop on the bus and ride around town.
The proposal for youth free fares was part of the first-ever recommendations presented by the Nevada County Youth Commission to the Board of Supervisors in June. Â The commissioners said that many young people needed the free fares to increase access to the bus system, as they often lack transportation to recreational opportunities.Â
On Sept. 17, the Transit Services Commission of Western Nevada County listened to a joint presentation from Nevada County Transit Services and the Youth Commission, and unanimously approved the proposal, commending the commission for its advocacy efforts.Â
