GRASS VALLEY, Calif. December 17, 2020 – The ink hardly had time to dry on the escrow documents before Gold Country Senior Services’ long-awaited Senior Center became the new COVID-19 testing site.
“We recently closed escrow on the old Summer Thyme’s Bakery & Deli building in Grass Valley,” Executive Director Janeth Marroletti explained. “One week later we were collaborating with Nevada County staff to put part of the premises into use. A new COVID-19 testing site was needed, and this location fit the bill perfectly.”
While the County is renting the dining-room area for testing, renovation assessment continues in the kitchen, as GCSS prepares for the center’s future opening. Located at 231 Colfax Avenue, Grass Valley, this building is already serving Nevada County during a critical time.
“The long-awaited Senior Center will support the health and wellness of our fast-growing senior population,” Marroletti added.
Meanwhile, Gold Country Senior Services continues to provide meals and other vital services for older adults. For further information, phone (530) 273-4961 or visit www.goldcountryservices.org.
