NEVADA CITY, Calif. January 25, 2017 – Several reports of Deer Creek in Nevada City running very milky and even yellow have prompted NID to isolate the raw water supply going to the treatment plant.

Crews also inspected NID’s infrastructure at Scotts Fat and Lower Scotts Flat and have found no issues there. There are no impacts to NID’s drinking water supply.

If a landslide between Lower Scotts Flat and Nevada City has caused the change in turbidity, Deer Creek should run clearer by tomorrow morning. The creek’s change in clarity started earlier this afternoon. If the turbidity persists, extensive area searches will have to be performed to ascertain the root cause of the problem.
