“You’re going to have to wait and see if we actually conduct the recount,” said Randy Economy last Thursday. A week ago, he requested a recount of the Nevada County Clerk-Recorder/Registrar of Voters race on behalf of candidate Jason Tedder who came in second – with a 14,957 vote difference.
This afternoon, Economy sent a one-sentence letter to Clerk-Recorder Gregory Diaz:
In accordance with California Election Code section 15624, I am terminating my request for Recount and Ballot Inspection delivered July 4th, 2022.
Nevada County responded to his recount request with a detailed cost estimate and laid out the process. Since the recount would have involved the office of the elections official, an outside recount manager has to be appointed. The item is on tomorrow’s Board of Supervisors agenda but will likely be pulled since there is no need for a recount manager.
Meanwhile, candidate Tedder, who has not returned calls or emails from numerous media outlets, apparently scrubbed his campaign website.
July 11, 2022 at 6:49 PM Update Mr. Tedder sent a letter to the BOS regarding the resolution adopting the election certification on tomorrow’s agenda. His letter is part of the public comment on the item.
