Nevada County, CA September 24, 2019 – After recent water samples came back as safe for recreational use, Nevada County Environmental Health has lifted the No Swim Advisory for the South Yuba River to Lake Englebright.
Recent repeat sampling by Environmental Health showed levels of E.coli decreasing well below the safe recommended amounts for recreation. Tests for toxic metals for mercury, lead, copper, arsenic and aluminum also showed safe levels for recreation. Since tests at the Highway 49 Bridge on the South Yuba River did show dangerous levels of E.coli initially, please remember to contact your primary care physician if you were in the affected water since Friday and are experiencing vomiting or diarrhea. Nevada County Public Health has noticed local health providers about the possibility of E.coli associated with Friday’s plume.
Until the investigation is complete, the County will continue to provide updates at www.MyNevadaCounty.com/YubaRiverAdvisory.
