GRASS VALLEY, California –After a 5-year hiatus, the Nordic Marketplace returns to Grass Valley with a new flare offering a celebration of all things Scandinavian. The event will take place on Saturday, October 19 from 10am-3pm at the Love Building at Condon Park. Attendees can browse Scandinavian vendors ranging from authentic Viking era goods to modern Scandinavian home décor. In addition, there will be live music and demonstrations including Scandinavian fiber arts provided by members of the Foothills Fiber Arts Guild and Nordic cooking demonstrations. Free kids crafts will be available including coloring and Danish heart basket weaving.

The event will feature two Viking era reenactment groups, the Bjornstad Vikings and the Dark Boar Vikings who will provide demonstrations on daily life in the Viking era. The Bjornstad Vikings are a living history and educational group which strives to provide an authentic presentation of the culture, weapons, and crafts from a thousand years ago. The Bjornstad Vikings are so authentic that they have even been filmed twice for History Channel productions and provided authentic weapon sound effects for films such as How to Train Your Dragon.
