February 1, 2022 at 4:15 PM Per CAL FIRE NEU: The understory burn scheduled for Wednesday in Colfax is cancelled due to forecasted high winds. We are planning for Tuesday the 8th as a primary and Wednesday the 9th as a secondary date.
Auburn – CAL FIRE/Placer County Fire Department is implementing a live fire operation near the Colfax Wastewater Treatment Plant property in Placer County.
Weather conditions permitting, the burn will begin Wednesday February 2nd at 10:00am.
This burn will help reduce the fuel load while converting up to six acres of underbrush to native vegetation within the North Fork American River Shaded Fuel Break. The prescribed burn will also offer training to area firefighters.
The burn will be ignited around 10:00 a.m. and be completed by 3:00 p.m. Smoke may be visible in Colfax and surrounding communities Wednesday, February 2nd, 2022.
Resources will remain at scene until all fire is extinguished and continue to check the burn for several days following the project’s completion.
