Air Attack reports the fire is looking very good and is releasing the tankers. One structure is fully involved. Helicopters on scene are running out of targets, according to Air Attack. Numerous ground resources are on scene and containment is imminent.

CHP is on scene and has closed portions off Cement Hill Road to all traffic in both directions. Current Ozone AQI levels in the Auburn area have reached: 204 AQI (Very Unhealthy) on Thursday, July 28.

Ozone AQI 201-300 Children and people with asthma are the groups most at risk. Increasingly severe symptoms and impaired breathing are likely in active children and adults and people with respiratory disease. There is also an increased likelihood of respiratory effects in the general population. U.S. EPA cautions that “active children and adults, and people with lung disease, such as asthma, should avoid all outdoor exertion. Everyone else, especially children, should avoid prolonged or heavy exertion outdoors.” ‘Prolonged’ generally means lasting four or more hours with short rest periods. ‘Heavy exertion’ is that which would increase the breathing rate four fold or greater. You can reduce exposure to ozone by: – Exercising in the morning before air quality reaches unhealthy levels – Limiting outdoor activities in both intensity and duration to avoid high breathing rates – Remaining indoors during pollution episodes

Wind gusts as high as 40 mph and low humidity with little to no rainfall during the last two months will lead to high fire danger on Monday across much of western Nevada, the Lake Tahoe Basin and northeast California. Wind gusts of 30-40 mph will kick up around 10 am Monday morning and continue well into Monday evening. Under these dry conditions even a small spark can quickly grow into a large and dangerous wildfire before first responders can contain them. Here are a few tips to remember. Always follow local burn restrictions, stow your trailer chains so they don’t drag on the ground, postpone target shooting, and avoid any activity that may create a spark near dry vegetation.
