Nevada City, CA – March 18, 2024 Onyx Downtown and Nevada County for Palestine will present a one-night-only screening of From Ground Zero: Stories from Gaza at the historic Nevada Theatre on Tuesday, March 18. Doors open at 6:30 PM, and the program begins at 7:00 PM.

This anthology film features 22 short films by Palestinian filmmakers, capturing daily life in Gaza following October 7, 2023, through animation, documentary, and fiction. More than just a record of hardship, From Ground Zero offers deeply personal stories that go beyond mainstream media coverage.

Critic Matt Zoller Seitz of RogerEbert.com calls the film “a staggering achievement… expressing that after a catastrophe, art is not only still possible but necessary.”

Panel Discussion

Following the screening, a panel discussion will feature:

  • Khaled Shehadeh – Palestinian business owner, Linda, CA
  • Jeffery Gottesman – Jewish Voice for Peace, NC4Palestine, and the Peace & Justice Center of Nevada County
  • Sarah Al Zanoon – Palestinian American writer and poet, Sacramento

Tickets & Additional Information

Tickets are $13, with net proceeds donated to Eleelna Elak (eleelnaelak.org), providing direct aid to families in Gaza.
