NEVADA CITY, Calif. – This weekend on Sunday, October 20th, the Rotary Club of Nevada will host the 1st annual “Paws and A Cause” FUNdraiser in Pioneer Park. This family-friendly FUNdraiser will bring together the Community for a day in the park full of games & competitions, prizes & raffles, pet & food services, veterinary & rescue organizations, food trucks and more. “The broad outpouring of support for the inaugural year of Paws and A Cause reflects our community’s love of dogs and animals,” said Louise Johnson, Nevada City Rotary’s Club President. “We anticipate it becoming a dog-loving annual tradition that supports Rotary’s youth leadership, scholarships and community service projects.” she continued.

Afternoon activities will include games, competitions and judged contests with prizes and awards for lucky pups. Paul Hass, KNCO Anchor will be the Master of Ceremonies, and local esteemed judges include Nevada City Mayor, Gary Petersen, County Supervisors Lisa Swarthout and Ed Scofield, and Rotary District 5190 Governor Dennis Geare. An agility course and demonstration will be hosted by All About Dogs and Lisa Jarvis of Three Lilies Photography.
Paws-enting Sponsors include KNCO News Talk 830/Star 94FM, Nevada County Properties/Recreation Realty, and Foothills Compassionate Care / Hospice of the Foothills. Canine-community supporters include Dr. Paula’s Mobile Veterinary Service, Paws’itive Pals Dog Training, Norcal Golden Retriever Rescue, and Pine Creek Veterinary Clinic. A host of local animal rescue and pet services organizations will be onsite to share their stories and services.
Food trucks include Coco’s Ice Cream Treats, Chelo’s Street Tacos and Slydogs Hot Dogs.

All friendly dogs are welcome if they enjoy being around other dogs or humans and respond to commands.
All dogs must be current on their vaccinations and remain on a 6 ft. or shorter leash at all times. For safety, please, no retractable leashes.
Tickets are $20/dog including a family up to four, $5 for unaccompanied humans
