On Saturday, Mar. 14 at 10 a.m., Peace Lutheran Church will provide a free interactive seminar on a usually difficult subject, “Decisions About Dying,” as part of its Contemporary Issues Seminar series.
Decisions About Dying will feature guest speakers presenting guidance and options about ways to approach end-of-life decisions for loved ones or yourself, with an emphasis on kindness, compassion, and peace of mind.
Death is a mystery—and also an inescapable reality, and as we age, we are more likely to face decisions about how best to accompany family members and guide ourselves on this journey. Knowing what services are available in the local medical and healthcare community can help make these decisions clearer and easier, which is the goal of the seminar.
Pastor Christian Schweter of Peace Lutheran will moderate the seminar, and presentations will be made by a panel of representatives from different care organizations:
- Foothills Compassionate Care (hospice care): Heidi Wingo, Executive Director,
- Claydon Geriatrics (palliative care): Susan Claydon, Nurse Practitioner
- Your End of Life (medical aid-in-dying): Garrett Eckerling, MD
- Full Circle of Living and Dying (end-of-life options): Akhila Murphy, Founding Director
A discussion period for questions and answers will be included. Bios and contact information about the speakers will be available, as well as additional resources for helping with these important decisions. Treats and beverages will be provided.
Peace Lutheran Church is located at the top of the hill outside Historic Downtown Grass Valley at 828 W. Main Street with onsite parking. For more information visit www.PeaceLutheranGV.org or call 530/273-9631.
