AUBURN, Calif. April 3, 2019 – Applications are currently being accepted for a seat on the Placer County Civil Service Commission. The Civil Service Commission regulates the employment and working conditions of Placer County employees and oversees hiring and promotions. It is the responsibility of the Civil Service Commission to promote the values of public service.
Placer County voters established the Civil Service Commission in 1961 in compliance with the County Civil Service Enabling Act approved in 1939. The commission is responsible for a number of items regarding classified positions in Placer County, including adopting and enforcing rules, conducting hearings on employee appeals, payroll and records management, and recruitment and testing.
Those interested in applying to fill this vacancy should have knowledge of principles and practices of human resources administration including recruitment methods, personnel management, and standardization and classification of positions. Additionally, applicants should have experience with management of the civil service system and the ability to hear and determine appeals or complaints.

Applicants may not be an employee of Placer County in the classified or unclassified service, nor may they serve as an officer of any local, state or national committee of a political party, an officer of a committee in any partisan political club or organization, or hold an elective office or be a candidate for an elective office. The current vacancy will be filled by an applicant who is recommended by the District 5 supervisor to the Board of Supervisors for appointment; however, residency in District 5 is not a requirement.
