PLACER COUNTY — Caltrans is alerting motorists of various lane and ramp closures along Interstate 80 (I-80) in Placer County for emergency pothole repairs next week.

Motorists can expect lane and ramp closures next week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at these locations:

I-80 repairs April 2024
  • Tuesday, April 2 – Eastbound I-80 between Clipper Gap and Applegate
  • Wednesday, April 3 โ€“ Eastbound I-80 between Weimar and the junction with State Route 174 (SR-174)
  • Thursday, April 4 โ€“ Westbound I-80 between the junction with SR-174 and Canyon Road
  • Thursday, April 4 โ€“ Westbound I-80 between Weimar and Applegate

The emergency repairs are part of an $8.9 million contract awarded to George Reed Inc. of Modesto to repave the section of I-80 between Auburn and Colfax last year. The schedule is subject to change or be delayed due to weather, availability of materials or other unexpected events.

Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Caltrans reminds motorists to โ€œBe Work Zone Alertโ€ and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements.
