Residents with storm damage repairs will receive priority permitting and have local fees waived for repair permits through the Nevada County Community Development Agency (CDA) for serious repairs needed following the December 27, 2021 winter storm.

“The goal of these types of fee waivers and having an expedited permitting process is to help the community build back quickly in a cost-effective way. Our team is here to support the rebuilding efforts as efficiently as possible to help the community recover and heal,” said Craig Griesbach, the Building Department Director.

Need to find a contractor or need help with the permit process? The Nevada County Contractor’s Association (NCCA) is also ready to help you find licensed contractors. Please call them at 530-274-1919 or office@nccabuildingpros.com, or go to our website for referrals of licensed contractors. NCCA also recommends visiting and checking contractor’s licenses through the California State License Board to verify a contractor’s license and insurance status

The County’s December 27, 2021 emergency proclamation made the fee waivers available to properties that require major permitted repairs from the recent winter storm. Examples of permitted repairs from storm damage may include electrical service damage, structural roof repair, septic repair, well repair, decking reconstruction, foundation repair, and similar components damaged during the storm. The fee waivers will cover permit fees for storm-related repairs through December 30, 2023.
