NEVADA CITY, Calif. May 23, 2019 – Ready Nevada County, Miners Foundry Cultural Center, and Nevada City First Friday Art Walk join forces for a summer-long series of Ready, Set, Go Mixers in Nevada City, June 7, July 5, August 2, 5:00-9:00 P.M.
The event will be a casual mix of art, socializing, education, and an opportunity to connect with seasoned professionals focused on fire prevention and preparedness. Art from the Osborn/Woods Gallery will be on display in their nearby space and representatives from 211 Connecting Point will be on hand to assist people with signing up for Code Red emergency alerts.
“We realize we need to meet people where they are and make connections in new ways. It isn’t enough to just share information. Often people want to talk through their concerns or clarify something they heard. Doing this in a relaxed environment with some art and a beverage is a good way to meet people we might be missing,” says Captain Pettitt, Emergency Service Program Manager.
All are welcome to attend, share information, and ask questions. “The health and safety of our community is important to local artists. Art Walk has always built community through creativity and works with themes that effect Nevada County directly. This is a great way for us to step up and become part of the solution,” says Art Walk founder and organizer Cynthia Levesque.
Guests will enjoy the outside patio and a special no host bar provided by Miners Foundry and are encouraged to share their own fire prevention strategy or business that supports those efforts. “It is something that is on everyone’s mind. Creating a social space for people to relax and connect for a common cause is our specialty. It makes sense to host it here,” adds Miners Foundry Executive Director, Gretchen Bond.
Ready Nevada County is a multifaceted stakeholder effort coordinated by the County of Nevada to raise awareness and mobilize the community to prevent and prepare for wildfire. Community members are encouraged to look for the logo for the latest on Nevada County’s wildfire readiness through increased planning, strategic partnerships, improved communication, and ongoing public engagement. They are a proud sponsor of Nevada City’s First Friday Art Walk.
