Meal On Wheels Is Looking For Drivers!

1 in 6 seniors face the threat of hunger & many more live quietly in isolation. Gold Country Community Services wants to change this, but they need your help! Sign up today to be a delivery driver and help support Nevada County seniors. It only takes a few hours one day a week, a car, sense of direction and a friendly smile.

Training is provided and mileage reimbursements are available.

Connect With Seniors: Listen, Laugh, Be A Friend!

If you are compassionate, enjoy friendly conversation and look forward to “making someone’s day”, we may have the volunteer job for you! Under the guidance of RSVP staff, we are looking for a volunteer to call local seniors that have signed up to participate in our Telephone Reassurance Program. Currently we are in need of a Thursday morning volunteer. Many of the volunteers with this program say they get as much out of the experience as the senior being called. Volunteers will also be making appointments for various community events. It is “on the job training”; you will need to be comfortable speaking on the phone and have some general computer skills. Your help will make a difference in many people’s lives – guaranteed!

CalFresh Advocate at Interfaith Food Ministries

Are you self-motivated, well organized and able to stand, sit and walk for long periods of time? Are you willing to volunteer at a regularly scheduled time – 9:30am – 1:00pm – two shifts a month? Do you communicate well with others, are a wiz at multi-tasking, and are computer fluent? Interfaith Food Ministries (IFM) is looking for a volunteer to serve as a CalFresh Advocate. After attending a 2 hour training to gain knowledge of the CalFresh program, the Advocate would help IFM clients to assess their eligibility, assist in enrollment, and help clients enter their information into the C4Yourself program. The volunteer would provide CalFresh materials to clients as needed, keep the materials organized and collaborate with other IFM CalFresh volunteers when necessary.
