The Grass Valley Library invites members of the community to participate in a delightful week of gardening and community spirit at the 4th Annual Plant Swap! From Monday, April 21st to Friday, April 26th participants can bring in their cherished green companions to the library, where they can find new homes and spread some leafy joy.

Plant Swap 2024

Here’s how it works: Participants can drop off their plants at the Grass Valley Library during regular open hours throughout the week. Whether it’s a hardy succulent, a flourishing fern, or a sprightly sprout, every plant is welcome. Upon arrival, participants will be asked to fill out a detailed plant care card which will provide the next caretaker with all the necessary details to ensure it continues to thrive. Plus, it helps staff provide the best care for the plants while they await their new homes.

For every plant that is contributed, participants will receive one ticket that can then be brought back for the main event on Saturday, April 27th, from 9 AM to 2 PM. This is the day when participants will get to choose from a variety of plants brought in by fellow green thumbs. The adoption process is based on a first-come, first-served basis, so the early bird gets the best blooms!

“I’m just so excited to see what little green wonders we’ll see, you won’t be-leaf the awesome plants we get!” says Brittany Blake, Library Assistant II for Grass Valley Library. “For the last three years, the community has really showed up and I’ve loved watching the plants find new homes. Whether it’s vegetables, houseplants, or new additions for your succulent garden, it’s going to be spectacular!

The Plant Swap is more than just an event; it’s a celebration of our community’s passion for gardening and sustainability. So, mark your calendar, prepare your plants, and join us for a week of green magic at the Grass Valley Library. Let’s grow together and make this year’s Plant Swap a blooming success!
