Bring Lunches. Leave With Smiles!

The Food Bank of Nevada County provides lunches for children at a number of local apartment complexes while school is out. Join other volunteers to pack and assemble coolers for lunch deliveries and/ or deliver these meals and share some fun moments with the kids. This is a 9-week program beginning June 19th. Volunteers need a clean DMV record and an interest in keeping our children healthy. More details and tours of the Food Bank are available.  

Treasurer for Interfaith Food Ministry

Interfaith Food Ministry (IFM) is seeking a volunteer Treasurer who would likely consider this work as a labor of love. Working in partnership with the Assistant Treasurer and the Executive Committee, the Treasurer would help to set a tone of integrity and transparency throughout the organization. Administrative and Learning Center Assistants

Sierra Nevada Children’s Services (SNCS) is a private, nonprofit child care resource and referral agency that has served families, early childhood professionals and the community since 1978. They are in need of a few volunteers to help on a regular basis with filings, mailings, and other various general administrative tasks. Additionally, SNCS is looking for a Learning Center Assistant to maintain the Lending Library and Play Space in a clean, orderly and welcoming fashion. Greet and assist visitors in a friendly, helpful manner, respond to general guest questions and refer them to appropriate staff when necessary.

Home Delivered Meals Driver

Help out the dedicated team of drivers for the Meals on Wheels program by becoming a Delivery Driver. All it takes is a few hours (10:30am to 1:00pm) one day a week, a car, a sense of direction and a friendly smile to brighten someone’s day. Meals on Wheels needs 3 drivers for Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Drivers must provide a DMV printout showing a clean driving record, a California driver’s license, and proof of insurance on file with the Nutrition Office. 

Truckee Area CHP Is Expanding Its Senior Volunteer Program

The California Highway Patrol Truckee Office is looking for motivated citizens who want to give something back to their community as Senior Volunteers. Volunteers assist the CHP in providing enhanced public service to the community. This is an opportunity for senior citizens to make a definite contribution towards improving public safety, service, and security. Get an understanding an appreciation for the justice system, human relations and ethics, in the world of law enforcement. To volunteer with the CHP, you must be 55 years or older, volunteer a minimum of 4 hours per week, be able to pass a background check, have a good driving record, and complete the Senior Volunteer Training Program.
