Assist With Nonprofit Grant Writing
One Source –Empowering Caregivers was founded in December 2014 in Grass Valley, California by Donna Raibley. At One Source -Empowering Caregivers the belief is every caregiver deserves the opportunity to care for their loved ones at home in a safe and healthy environment without added financial constraints. Currently One Source is looking for 2 volunteers to assist with the process of nonprofit grant writing. Help is needed two days a week, Monday and Thursday for two hours each day.
Hospice of the Foothills
Hospice of the Foothills – Gift & Thrifts Stores are recruiting for volunteers at all 3 of their locations! Dedicating just four hours a week is all that is required. As a volunteer at one of the thrift store locations, you would sort and receive merchandise, steam and tag clothing, test electrical equipment, assist customers, and operate the cash register. Hospice’s Gift & Thrift Store volunteers help to keep the customers happy and the stores stocked with desirable merchandise at bargain prices while supporting our local hospice stores in Nevada City, Grass Valley, and Penn Valley.
Marketing Volunteer Needed for Read Up Literacy Program
Read Up is a free, adult literacy program that helps people strengthen their reading, writing and math skills by teaming them up with trained volunteer tutors. The Read Up program has been part of the Nevada County Library since 1998, and they are part of the network of 105 library-based literacy programs state-wide working with the California State Library. Currently the program needs the assistance of an individual with professional Marketing and/or Public Relations experience on a key project reaching out to the community. This project would not necessarily involve a heavy time commitment, and the bulk of the work could be accomplished from your own home.
Senior Firewood Program Wood Splitting Team
As part of the Senior Firewood Program Wood Splitting Team you would work in groups of 3 to split firewood that is used to heat the homes of low income seniors. The team typically works one day a week and does not work in inclement weather. Training will be provided but some experience using and maintaining machinery is desired. Must be able to bend, stoop, lift and carry firewood. It is also helpful to have cut and stored firewood in the past. Gold Country Community Services provides the team with a commercial grade hydraulic wood splitter which the team must maintain (gas/oil/grease). Volunteers must be available Thursdays.
