Chicago Park, Calif. July 3, 2017 – Firefighters quickly contained a motor home fire on Mt. Olive Road near Lower Colfax Road in the Chicago Park area.
Reported at 7:49 pm, the first Peardale/Chicago Park (PCPFD) units arrived a few minutes later, finding a fully involved RV in the middle of the roadway. The occupants were driving the vehicle as it caught fire but were able to exit safely. No injuries have been reported.
Units from Cal Fire and Ophir Hill assisted PCPFD in extinguishing the blaze. There was no extension to the wildland thanks to the firefighters’ quick work and no damage to any nearby homes.
CHP provided traffic control as the roadway was blocked.
Due to the extensive debris caused by the fire, removing the RV was no easy feat, according to PIO Daniel Ramey. Celestial Towing responded to the call and was able to tow away the burned-out vehicle and debris.
Firefighters were on scene for approximately two hours.
