Auburn, California – The Placer Resource Conservation District (Placer RCD) Placer County Chipper Program, in partnership with the Placer County Probation Department and CAL FIRE, is offering a chipping service promotion. This promotion offers the first hour of chipping free, and is available for requests placed through the end of August 31st, 2026.

After one hour of free chipping, individuals will be charged the standard pro-rated chipping service fee of $80/hr. Placer RCD requests that residents only submit a request if piles are ready to chip. There is a limit of one free service per household during the promotion period (August 1st through August 31st). Please note: with the hot and dry weather, piles should be prepared early in the morning when weather is cooler, and only tools that are unlikely to cause a spark should be used.

Residents of Placer County (with the exception of those within the Tahoe Rim) interested in this service can visit www.placerrcd.org/programs/chipperprogram to learn more and request their service.
