February 19, 2019 – The National Weather Service is predicting cold temperatures in the foothills this week.

In an effort to collaborate over one of our most vulnerable populations, Salvation Army and the County of Nevada have initiated their Extreme Weather Shelter Protocol to include Wednesday and Thursday nights, February 20th through morning of February 22nd. This is an effort to continue to temporarily shelter homeless residents in our community during extreme weather.  Hours or operation are 4:30 p.m. through 7:30 a.m. the next morning.

Sierra Roots will not be opening in Nevada City on those nights, but will be monitoring the weather and work to reset from this past weekend’s shelter activities.
