GRASS VALLEY, California — Scott Beesley, a local financial planner, business owner, and retired first responder, has officially announced his candidacy for Grass Valley City Council in the November 2026 election.

Grass Valley is at an important crossroads. Decisions being made now on public safety, housing affordability, and the health of our local economy will shape the character of this town for generations. Beesley is committed to bringing constructive conversation and civil discourse back to these topics, ensuring residents have a voice.
Fiscal Stewardship and Local Leadership
Beesley’s career as an independent financial planner and business owner positions him to address Grass Valley’scity budget that is under increasing strain. As property tax growth slows in a stagnant housing market and federal and state pass-through dollars continue to be cut, careful financial leadership will be essential. The concurrent transition to a new city manager also presents a meaningful opportunity to strengthen the relationship between city council, city staff, and the surrounding community.
A Record of Service When It Matters Most
Beesley’s commitment to Grass Valley goes well beyond professional credentials. As Team Lead of the NCSO Search & Rescue Incident Command Team, he was among the first on scene directing evacuations during the River Fire. During the pandemic, he was selected as one of just two county residents to serve on the panel that distributed four rounds of emergency grants that kept the doors open for many of Grass Valley’s nonprofits and small businesses. He currently serves as Chair of the Investment Committee for the Community Foundation of Nevada County.
“On city council I will continue working to keep our city safe, affordable for the next generation, and support the unique independent character of our downtown district,” said Beesley.
