GRASS VALLEY, Calif. January 23, 2020 – Around 4:00 pm today, a break-in and robbery were reported at the storage yard for the Senior Wood Center program, part of Gold Country Community Services (GCCS).

Preliminary reports indicate that a truck pulled in the yard and loaded the Conex Box with the GCCS’s tools used to provide free firewood to seniors. A security guard noticed the unusual activity as the truck was leaving with the shipping container.

Last July, the Nevada County Board of Supervisors approved a donation of critical equipment such as chainsaws, wheelbarrows, gloves, tarps, and fuel containers for GCCS. It appears that this equipment was in the container that persons unknown stole.

Local law enforcement is working to identify any possible leads.

We will update this story as new developments occur.
