NEVADA CITY, Calif. June 27, 2017 – A series of 25 small earthquakes rattled the Truckee area between 2:02 and 5:43 am. The largest tremblor, determined to be a magnitude 3.9 by USGS occurred at 2:09 am and was also felt in the Colfax, Grass Valley and Nevada City areas.

Some Truckee residents reported windows rattling, but no damage to buildings or injuries – firefighters did not respond to any calls related to the earthquakes.

The seismic activity has been concentrated between Independence Lake and Webber Lake, just north of the Sierra/Nevada counties border.
