November 18, 2019 – The partnership between Nevada County, Nevada City and Sierra Roots continues into this winter season in their coordinated efforts to provide Emergency Cold Weather sheltering for homeless members of our community.
In preparation for the upcoming season, Sierra Roots is holding a third volunteer training at the Nevada City Veteran Hall on Thursday, November 21st from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
All returning Sierra Roots volunteers and any new member of the community interested in volunteering must attend this volunteer training session to be eligible to help during sheltering events.
If you are new to Sierra Roots and want a volunteer opportunity with chronically homeless people, please consider joining theirr wonderful team of locals and neighbors who participate together with the homeless community to create a safe place indoors during extreme weather events. For more info, click here for their listing on the 211 Connecting Point Volunteer Hub.
The Sierra Roots Weather Shelter will be open during extreme weather events by the Sierra Roots Weather Shelter Collaboration, which consists of Sierra Roots, Nevada County, and Nevada City.
