Soroptimist International of Grass Valley, an organization well established and known for service to our community and host of the recently successful anti-human trafficking symposium at Sierra College, recently awarded grants to community agencies to partner with them to serve our community. The annual grants program begins in January with a request for proposals culminating in receipt, evaluation and presentations made in May each year. Soroptimist acknowledge all agencies who help women and children in Nevada County and appreciate their participation in our grants program.

Soroptimists celebrated our service to our community by presenting grants to:
Big Brothers Big Sisters Northern Sierra, Butterflies and Roses Cancer Support, Breast-feeding Coalition of Nevada County, Gold Country Senior Services, One Source Empowering Caregivers, Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Foundation, and Women of Worth.
Included in the celebration was annual recognition of our Signature Project, the KARE Crisis Nursery, founded by Soroptimist International of Grass Valley in 1999 with a presentation to Lynn Woerner, KARE Executive Director.
Soroptimist also support empowering women through educational awards. Jeanette Williams, winner of the Live Your Dream Scholarship Award for college students who are head of household was acknowledged along with Marley OโBrien, winner of the Vocational Scholarship for high school graduates.
