March 8, 2018 – There will be Volunteer Sign-Ups and Orientation for three Sierra Gold Sector State Parks. The three parks include South Yuba River State Park, Malakoff Diggins State Historic Park and Empire Mine State Historic Park. The location for sign-ups will be at Empire Mine State Historic Park Docent Room on Saturday, March 10th from 9:00am – 3:00pm OR Saturday, March 17 from 9:00 – 3:00pm. For your convenience, only one Saturday session is required.
The session will cover what a “Volunteer Means to California State Parks” and discussing park policies, procedures and philosophy. We will, as a group, be guided through the hiring paperwork and discuss the benefits of being a State Park volunteer. Since a criminal background check is required prior to working as a State Park volunteer, there will be onsite finger printing “live scan” being conducted during the Saturday sessions. Individuals will need to bring to the sign-up a photo ID and $12 check or cash for the background processing.
Even if you were not able to visit one of our open houses, please join us on one of the two dates, March 10 or March 17, to begin a fulfilling experience as a volunteer for our beautiful state parks. As a volunteer, you will become a vital entity in helping keep our state parks alive and well. This session is very informative, interesting, enlightening and fun!!
