October 24, 2016 – Tonight Grass Valley Police Officers, with assistance from Nevada City PD Officers and K9 Rüdiger, as well as assistance from the Nevada County Sheriffs Office, responded to the 1000 block of Sutton Way and arrested a Grass Valley man for criminal threats and resisting arrest.
The male, whose full identity is pending, entered a business and began acting strangely. The owner asked him to leave but he refused and Police were called. While responding, updated information was provided by employees that the suspect may be armed with a gun and would use it on Officers who responded.
During a nearly hour long stand off, neighboring businesses were evacuated and a perimeter was established. Two customers inside the store were able to leave without being stopped by the suspect.
Officers successfully used a police loud speaker to call to the man, who again presented himself in the doorway, this time with his hands up. He was taken into custody just before 8:00pm. Due to the unknown threat posed by the man, K9 Rüdiger was on hand but was not utilized during the apprehension.
Further updates will follow, including the suspect’s identity, when it is available.
