March 27, 2018 – Dry and warm this week with breezy north winds at times today.
Discussion
Upper level high pressure will remain over NorCal this week producing warm and dry weather. Some northerly wind enhancement at times this week, but gusts generally below 15 mph. High temperatures will warm into the 70’s today.
Even warmer readings Wednesday through Friday with many locations warming into the 80’s. Record high temperatures are from 85-90 during this period at most Valley locations. A few degrees warmer over the the northern Sacramento Valley than current forecast would approach some of these values.
Extended discussion (Saturday through Tuesday)
Dry and mild weather is expected for the weekend, with a short wave bringing slightly less warm temperatures than expected on Thursday/Friday and some increased cloud cover, mainly on Saturday. Early next week is uncertain, with the GFS model showing the possibility of a wet shortwave passing through Northern California, bringing the potential for precipitation over much of NorCal. The European model continues to show a drier pattern with this system and precipitation further north in Oregon. For now, and leaning towards the GEFS Ensemble mean, with a chance/slight chance of rain showers over the northern mountains Monday and Tuesday.
