GRASS VALLEY, Calif. November 3, 2017 – Today at approximately 3:12 PM, the California Highway Patrol initiated an enforcement stop on a black Jeep Wrangler on McCourtney Road at Wolf Mountain Road.
Upon a registration check, it was discovered the vehicle was stolen. The driver, later identified as 36-year old Joseph Lewis Haskins, a New Orleans resident, fled from the initiating officer in the stolen vehicle.
A pursuit ensued southbound on McCourtney Road, southbound onto Lime Kiln Road, and onto Vintage Drive. Mr. Haskins abandoned the vehicle after it struck a fence at the intersection of Lime Kiln Road and Vintage Drive and continued to flee pursuing officers on foot into the residence of 17973 Vintage Drive.
Pursuing officers from the CHP and the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office secured a perimeter around the house and made entry into the house, where they apprehended Mr. Haskins without further incident.
The stolen vehicle was recovered at the scene with no damage. There were no reported injuries from the suspect or pursuing officers. Mr. Haskins was booked into the Nevada County Jail without further incident.
