GRASS VALLEY Calif. December 1, 2016 – The new year will be rung in by Roy Rogers and the Delta Rhythm Kings and The Rayos at The Center for the Arts in downtown Grass Valley on Saturday, December 31.

With numerous Grammy nominations and collaborations with all-stars like John Lee Hooker, Roy Rogers is one of the most accomplished slide guitarists in the world today. He’s shared the stage with legendary musicians such as Linda Ronstadt, Carlos Santana and Bonnie Raitt and was ever-present during the heyday of San Francisco’s 1960s rock scene which proved to be as much about learning to play guitar as it was about seeing his heroes, the greats who mastered the instrument before him.

Center executive director Julie Baker says,  “His brand of rock ‘n’ roll and blues is the perfect soundtrack to an evening of dancing and meeting friends both old and new. Two bars, a dramatic balloon drop and a boisterous dance party will insure that you can party your way into 2017. There will be noisemakers and champagne, and an optional dinner party ticket with a fabulous menu catered by Antonio Ayestaran. Not feeling like putting your dancing shoes on? No problem. Just take a seat and enjoy the music and people watching.”

Rogers has accumulated 8 Grammy nominations with records by John Lee Hooker (4 Grammy Nominations and 2 Grammy Awards) and Ramblin’ Jack Elliott (2 Grammy Nominations). He has received numerous accolades for his songwriting (Grammy nomination for Bonnie Raitt’s version of ‘Gnawin’ On It’), as well as his work on movie soundtracks and television. His collaboration with The Doors Keyboardist, Ray Manzarek debuted at #6 on the Billboard charts and reached #1 on the American Roots Rock Chart.

Opening the show will be Nevada County favorites The Rayos. With Saul’s heartfelt lyrics being cradled by Elena’s sweet harmonies, the pair share their love for music through socially-conscious country-blues that serves as a nod to their diverse pasts.
