Grass Valley, CA: InConcert Sierra brings the sparkling musical joy of the holidays with Sierra Master Chorale and Orchestra concerts on Saturday evening, December 14, and Sunday afternoon, December 15.

“We’re thrilled to share a joyful program that brings the spirit of the season to life,” says Alison Skinner, music director and conductor of the Sierra Master Chorale (SMC).
“From classic carols and traditional favorites with creative arrangements, to inspired masterworks, there is something for everyone. Holiday music has a unique ability to stir emotions, from joy and wonder to reflection and peace. The combination of hearing the voices of the SMC with our professional InConcert Sierra orchestra magnifies the impact,” Skinner said.
“This concert program is a great representation of ‘who’ the SMC is with the majesty and reach of Vivaldi’s “Gloria” that lifts both the singers and audience up, and the traditional holiday sing-alongs and familiar carols that are warm and welcoming. And as the cherry on top, the ‘Musicological Journey Through the 12 Days of Christmas’ injects a touch of history and humor,” says SMC soprano Chris Bennett.
Craig Courtney’s “Musicological Journey Through the 12 Days of Christmas,” is a whimsical and imaginative arrangement of the favorite carol. Each verse takes the listener through a different era of music history, from medieval chant to a Sousa-style march, with nods to Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and even iconic composer styles along the way. Courtney’s witty take on this holiday classic brings humor and delight.
Throughout the program are carols and seasonal favorites such as a lively medley featuring “Ding Dong Merrily on High” and “Carol of the Bells.” In celebration of Chanukah, “Eight Days of Lights” will be performed in both Hebrew and English.

The 68-member auditioned Sierra Master Chorale will perform with a 24-piece orchestra of professional instrumentalists from the InConcert Sierra Orchestra.
