BUTTE COUNTY November 8, 2018 – Due to the #CampFire, the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has closed State Route 70 in Butte and Plumas Counties, from the Highway 149 junction in Butte County to the junction of SR-89/Greenville Wye in Plumas County.

Southbound Highway 99 is closed from the Highway 32 junction to the junction at Highway 149.

“Caltrans District 3 and 2 are monitoring the fire closely and are ready to assist emergency personnel with road closures as needed,” says Amarjeet Benipal, District 3 Director, for Caltrans. “Our thoughts are with the communities that are affected by the fire.”

According to CalFire, the incident started at 6:33 a.m. near Pulga and by 9:23 a.m. it had burned 5,000 acres. Authorities issued evacuation orders for the residents of Paradise, Magalia and Pulga this morning. The Feather River Hospital was also evacuated. The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for strong winds and low relative humidity.
