Truckee, CA – Get ready to celebrate Independence Day with a burst of energy at the annual Firecracker Mile, a beloved Truckee tradition happening on Thursday, July 4th, 2025, at 9:40 AM. This thrilling one-mile race kicks off right before the parade, offering both runners and spectators an unforgettable experience along the festive parade route, from US Bank to Old Town.

More than just a race, the Firecracker Mile is a vibrant community gathering and a crucial fundraiser for the Auburn Ski Club Legacy Foundation junior scholarship funds. These scholarships directly support young local athletes pursuing their dreams in winter sports, helping to grow the next generation of ski and snowboard talent right here in Truckee. The event is proudly organized by the ASC Training Center and sponsored by the Truckee Chamber and Tahoe Mountain Sports.
“We are thrilled to host the Firecracker Mile once again this year,” said event organizer Meg Seifert. “It’s a fantastic way for the community to come together, celebrate our nation’s independence, and support scholarships for the ASC Training Center programs. We invite runners of all ages and fitness levels to join us for this fun-filled event.”

The Firecracker Mile welcomes everyone, from seasoned runners seeking a challenge to families looking for an exciting start to their holiday. The slightly downhill course promises a fast and exhilarating race, with enthusiastic cheers from onlookers lining the streets providing an extra boost of motivation. The first 500 finishers will even receive a commemorative event water bottle!
