GRASS VALLEY, Calif. August 6, 2017 – On Sunday, August 6, just before noon, a 911 caller reported that two adult males had been stabbed in a residence in the 300 block of North School Street.

Officers responded to the scene and located two victims – one had been stabbed in the abdomen and the other in the back. Medical personnel were summoned to the scene to treat their injuries.

Officers were able to identify the suspect and quickly located him just blocks away in the 100 block of Stewart Street. He was taken into custody without incident and officers recovered the knife that was used in the assault.

The suspect is identified as 69-year-old Grass Valley resident – Eugene Maravel.

Officers determined that Mr. Maravel knew the victims and was upset that they had some property that belonged to him. Further details are still under investigation at this time. More information will be released when appropriate.

Mr. Maravel sustained an injury to his hand during the assault and was treated at the emergency room. When cleared, he will be booked for attempted murder.

The two victims were flown by air ambulance to a trauma center. Their status is unknown at the time of this release.
