June 14, 2018 – CAL FIRE is implementing a live fire operation at the University of California Sierra Foothill Research and Extension Field Station, located at 8279 Scott Forbes Rd, Browns Valley, CA.
Weather conditions permitting, the burn will begin Friday June 15 at 9:00 am. The initial burn is for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Weather permitting, additional sections will be burned through Saturday June 23 at 1:00 pm.
This burn will help convert up to 155 acres of noxious weeds to native vegetation within the field station. The prescribed burn will also offer training to area firefighters.
The burn will be ignited starting around 10:00 a.m. and be completed by 3:00 p.m. daily. Smoke will be visible from Hwy 20, Marysville Rd, Pleasant Valley Rd, Englebright Reservoir and surrounding communities.
Resources will remain at scene until all fire is extinguished and continue to check the burn for several days following the project’s completion.
