Leah Schwinn with Philip Vardara, another wonderful volunteer, helping out at one of the fundraisers for the clinic

July 3, 2019 – United Way of Nevada County will be hosting a free 2-day California CareForce health clinic in January 2020. The planning process for the clinic is a vast undertaking. Thankfully, we do not have to reinvent the wheel. California CareForce holds numerous clinics per year and some of our planning committee members have helped during other clinics. One of those diehard volunteers is Leah Schwinn. She was one of the volunteers who helped to bring the California CareForce Free 2-day Dental, Vision, and Medical Clinic to the Grass Valley Vet’s Hall in 2015.

As part of her work to convince California CareForce to hold a clinic in Nevada County, she and others volunteered at their huge annual clinic in Coachella. “We were so impressed with their level of organization, with the quality of the care they provided, and the equipment they used. The gratitude of the patients really touched our hearts.” said Leah. “We saw what a rewarding experience it was to volunteer at their clinic.” She was thrilled with the Grass Valley clinic that she helped happen in 2015, and is even more delighted that it is coming back in January 2020.

United Way is still in need of many general volunteers and medical professionals to volunteer their time during the clinic. There is also a need for volunteers to help set up and tear down two days before, and on Monday after the clinic.

If you are interested in volunteering during the 2-day clinic, or donating to help bring it to fruition, please contact United Way at 274-8111 or admin@uwnc.org or visit www.uwnc.org
