GRASS VALLEY Calif. July 9, 2018 – This Saturday, July 14th will be the next Food Access Saturday. Through the Food Access Saturday program, any working individuals & families who need food can pick up nutritious supplemental groceries. United Way of Nevada County, in partnership with Interfaith Food Ministry (IFM) distributes food on the second Saturday of each month.

The program was specifically designed to help working individuals & families who need help putting food on their table. These individuals and families that work during the week and cannot make it to food distribution sites Monday thru Friday may now pick up food once a month at the Saturday food distribution.

So far, through the program, over 980 individuals have been served, with over 2200 bags of food distributed. United Way envisions a community where individuals don’t have to choose between buying food and paying for basic needs, such as rent or health care. This month marks the one year anniversary of the program.

One recipient said “It’s sometimes very hard to budget for everything you need to pay for, and often there is little money left for food at the end of the month. This program allows me to breathe a little easier.” United Way of Nevada County strives to assure individuals and families in Nevada County are able to meet their basic need for food, emergency shelter and access to health care.

The distributions take place at 440 Henderson Street, in Grass Valley, from 10am-noon (new time) on the 2nd Saturday of each month. For more information contact United Way at 274-8111 or admin@uwnc.org.
