November 30, 2018 – The National Weather Service is predicting COLD Weather here in the foothills this weekend with rain predicted and lows dipping below 30 degrees.

Due to predicted cold and wet weather Saturday, Nevada City officials have been able to secure an alternate location for that night. In an effort to collaborate over one of our most vulnerable populations, the City of Nevada City, Sierra Roots and the County of Nevada have activated their Extreme Weather Shelter Protocol in an effort to temporarily shelter homeless citizens in our community and plan to open the following shelter from 4:30pm until 7:00am on Saturday, Sunday and Monday nights (December 1st, 2nd and 3rd) at:
City of Nevada City:

• Saturday: Seaman’s Lodge in Nevada City at 423 Nimrod Street, Nevada City <– note new location! [Editor’s note: updated at 3:15 pm with new location]
• Sunday and Monday: Veteran’s Hall located at 415 North Pine Street, Nevada City CA 95959

Grass Valley Area:
Salvation Army facility WILL NOT be opened on these dates. However, Salvation Army stands ready to assist homeless families through their normal access points or by calling 274-3500. Further assistance for homeless families can also be gained by calling 211.
