NEVADA CITY, Calif. July 26, 2018 – The Carr Fire, now near Redding in Shasta County, has grown to 28,763 acres and is 10% contained as of 6:00 pm today. The fire tripled in size last night and extreme fire behavior was again observed through the day.

The Nevada County strike team is made up of fire engines from Nevada City, Nevada County Consolidated, Higgins, Ophir Hill and Peardale. They arrived on the fire late Tuesday night. Immediately assigned, they were doing mop-up operations before being reassigned to a new division. They are now doing structure defense (protecting homes) by cutting line, removing fuels and firing operations.
