The Nevada County Community Library is excited to announce a virtual author visit with best-selling author Madeline Miller. Miller’s book Circe is currently the featured title for this year’s Nevada County Reads program.

The virtual event will take place on Zoom at 7pm, March 25th, 2022 and will be streamed live on Facebook. The digital lobby will open on Zoom at 6:30pm allowing patrons to get comfortable at home before the event begins. An in-person viewing of the event will also take place after-hours at the Madelyn Helling Library with doors opening at 6:30pm. Light refreshments will be served, and patrons are encouraged to come and interact with the author in the cozy environment of the library. There will be a projector and PA system along with live Q&A from the audience. Miller will speak on a variety of topics related to her experience writing, education, and on her book, Circe.
Patrons at home can access the virtual event through ZOOM at: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88526467323 (No Passcode Required)
“It’s really exciting to have an author like Madeline Miller come and speak to our community” states Ian Boalt, a Librarian at the Madelyn Helling Library. “While it is disappointing it can’t be in person, I think the shift to a digital event will allow even more of our patrons to attend and get a chance to interact with the author.”
This event was previously scheduled to be in-person with author Miller. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event has been moved to a virtual/hybrid environment.
Nevada County Reads started in 2005 as a collaboration between the Nevada County Community Library, The Nevada County Superintendent of schools, and the Friends of the Nevada County Libraries as a way to engage the community in reading. Since its inception the program continues to grow with writing and logo contests for high school students, author visits, book discussions, film screenings, grab bags, and events for people of all ages as well as read alike options for younger readers.
