Nevada City, Calif. – Nevada County is seeking volunteers to help with the Armed Forces Day celebration at the Nevada County Airport Saturday, May 16.
Armed Forces Day is Nevada County’s largest annual tribute to the men and women of the United States Armed Forces. The free, family-friendly event honors active-duty military personnel, veterans, and their families while bringing the community together for a day of education, music, appreciation, and fun.

The event features airplane rides (proceeds supporting local aviation scholarships), a classic car show, food trucks, live music, a kids’ zone, flyovers and more. Informational booths representing each branch of the U.S. Armed Forces and community vendors will also be on site.
“Volunteers are what make this event possible,” said Nevada County Veterans Service Officer David West. “This is a great way to give back, show appreciation and be part of something that matters to our veterans and their families.”
Volunteers are needed to help set up and break down, greeting guests, supporting kids’ activities, helping with trash and water service and more.
All ages are welcome to volunteer but minors must be accompanied by an adult. All should wear comfortable clothing and closed-toed shoes. Additional details will be emailed prior to the event.
