Nevada City Calif. – In a month, ballots will be mailed for the Nov. 3, 2026 General Election. The ballot will offer voters choices on candidates for federal, state and local offices. Voters will also be able to weigh in on 14 state propositions and three local ballot measures.

Voters are strongly encouraged to return their ballot early, well before Election Day. One of the best ways to do so is to use “Sign, Scan and Go” – complete your ballot at home then bring it to a vote center and scan it yourself to ensure your ballot has been recorded. Ballots may also be returned to official drop boxes or in the mail.

“Returning your ballot early gives our Elections Office more time to process ballots before Election Day, which means more ballots can be included in the first results we report on Election Night,” said Registrar of Voters Armando Salud-Ambriz. “Voting early is one of the simplest things voters can do to help us provide more complete election results sooner.”

Federal and State Contests

The federal office up for election is the House of Representatives (District 3).

State offices that will be on the ballot are governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state, controller, treasurer, attorney general, insurance commission, Board of Equalization, State Senate (District 4), State Assembly (District 1), associate justice of the Supreme Court, administrative presiding justice of the Court of Appeal (Third District), associate justices of the Court of Appeal (Third District), superintendent of schools.

Ballots will be mailed by Oct. 5. Ballots can be returned as soon as they are received. Early voting is available Oct. 5 – 23 at the Ballot Processing Center, 12740 Loma Rica Drive, Grass Valley, with nine vote centers opening on a staggered schedule beginning Oct. 24.
