AUBURN, Calif. — This May, the Placer County Library is proud to promote Wildfire Awareness Month with a systemwide initiative designed to help our community stay informed, prepared and resilient.

Throughout the month, library locations will offer programs and resources focused on emergency readiness, including firefighter story times for children and families, emergency preparedness workshops for adults presented by Placer County Office of Emergency Services, and take-home materials on evacuation planning, defensible space and emergency supply kits.

There will also be fun activities for children, including crafts and scavenger hunts, designed to build recognition of the emergency number 9-1-1 and to introduce key items for an emergency go-kit.

This initiative is made possible through partnerships with Placer County Office of Emergency Services and local fire districts, connecting residents with trusted experts and critical information in an accessible, welcoming environment.

Community members of all ages are invited to visit their local library and take steps toward staying safe this wildfire season.
